Radiant Floor Heat
A warm and cozy house begins with radiant heating, and it is the most fundamental comfort of home. With radiant heating, every inch of the space feels warm – even the coldest floor on earth, ceramic tile. Radiant floor heating is so smart, efficient and functional.
The idea behind radiant heat is simple. Hot air rises which means the warm air floats up to the ceiling where you are not. You spend your time on the floor or furniture which sits on the floor, so that is where the warmth should be.
Radiant floor systems circulate warm water beneath the floor through flexible, durable plastic tubing called PEX (crosslinked polyethylene). This tubing runs back and forth, wall to wall, bringing heat to every corner of every room. Unlike forced air, there are no cold spots and drafts are completely eliminated.
The PEX tubing is installed in continuous loops, so there are no connections under the floor. PEX tubing resists corrosion, and it is incredibly tough. Radiant works great beneath all floors, including carpet, wood, stone and even concrete.
